Lateral Flow Home Testing Programme Update

Back
March 15th 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you for your continued support during our phased lateral flow testing.  This has been a proud moment guiding our students through a ‘national effort’ of safety measures to minimise positive cases of Covid-19, and all students who have been tested have demonstrated impeccable maturity – well done all! We are proud of your achievements.

Last week, we asked you to choose from 3 options:

Option 1 – I give consent.  I am able to administer the tests at home with no difficulty. If you choose this option, you do not need to do anything.  You are happy to administer the tests, and you do not need to tell us this.  However, you need to read the rest of this letter to find out all the details.

Option 2 – I opt-out.  I do not wish to take part at all. If you would not like to take part in the home testing programme, please could you complete this short ‘opt-out’ Microsoft form here. You do not need to read the rest of this letter.

Option 3 – I give consent, but am unable to do the test at home, so would need the school to help. If you would like to take part, but you can’t do the tests at home, we will continue to test your child at school.  Let us know by completing this short Microsoft form here.

Only continue reading if you have chosen Option 1:

How will you receive the home testing kits?

This week, we will give your son/daughter 2 kits.  Each kit will contain 3 tests.  This will be enough to test your son/daughter on a Sunday night, and also on a Wednesday night.  Before we break up for Easter, we will issue you enough kits to last the 2 weeks while your son/daughter is at home during the Easter break.

How should you store the testing kits?

For the home testing kits to be effective, they must be stored and used at room temperature.

How should you use the lateral flow test?

Click here to see a video on how to complete the test.

This video can also be accessed using the QR code.  I have also attached a step by step guide below.  You will also need the following additional equipment to conduct the lateral flow test: tissues, a watch/clock, hand sanitiser, hand washing facilities, and internet access to report your results.

What do you do after you have completed each lateral flow test?

After you have completed each lateral flow test (on a Sunday and Wednesday evening), please could you report the results to the NHS Test and Trace app (full details below on how to do this), and let us know here at the school (full details below on how to do this).  Please also dispose of the used testing kit in bag supplied, and place it in your normal household waste.

How do you upload the results onto the NHS Test and Trace app?

Please select this link here or select this QR code, and follow the guidance below.  You will need the test kit ID number underneath the test strip to complete this.

How do you inform school of the result after each test?

Please could you complete this short Microsoft form here after you have completed each test (on a Sunday and Wednesday).  You may wish to save this link to the homepage of your phone for convenience.

Our privacy notice can be found on our website here, if you have any questions or concerns regarding how we will handle your personal data.

What will the result look like?

After waiting 30 minutes, you will see if you have either a negative, positive or invalid (void) result.

  • Positive result – line at C and T (be aware of weak positive – a faint T line)
  • Negative result – Line only at C
  • Void – no lines or line only at T – if this is the case, please conduct a 2nd test straight away

What do you do if the lateral flow test is positive?

Please isolate your son/daughter and follow the ‘stay at home’ guidance which can be found here.  Please also book a PCR test straight away using this link here, or by using this QR code.  Detailed instructions on how to complete the on-line booking form can be found below.

What do you do if you receive 2 void results, one after the other?

If you receive 2 voids, one after the other, please book a PCR test straight away using the links above.

Do you need to continue testing over the Easter break?

The government has advised that you carry on testing your son/daughter 2 times a week, over the Easter break.  During this time, please could you continue to upload your results to the NHS Test and Trace app, and also the Microsoft form (both links above).

If you have any questions, concerns or issues please do contact me on the following number 07874796897, or email me at dec@clarendonacademy.com .  Thank you again for your continued support.
