After a year of no sports fixtures due to Covid-19, Year 8 students were finally treated to their first inter school competition in the form of a U13 Netball Festival held at Melksham Oak. 12 teams divided in to two pools put on their netball bibs for the first time and took to the courts.

The Year 8s have been committed to after school training on a Friday so it was difficult to limit the number of students who could attend and so Clarendon entered three teams. I was delighted to see how the teams transferred the concepts and practices from lessons and extra-curricular club in to competitive games. Evidence of driving on to the ball, straight and square balls, top and pocket as well as shooting were apparent throughout the evening. There were so many notable performances it was difficult to identify a player of the matches. It should be noted that many of the players today have had no experience of netball prior to joining the school so what they have managed to achieve is exceptional.

Final standings

Clarendon Pink - 4 wins, 1 draw - Joint 1st in Pool B

Clarendon Blue - 1 win, 2 draws - 4th in Pool B

Clarendon Black - 5 wins, winners of Pool A

I cannot wait to see how you get on in the season after Christmas

Super proud of you all
