Tutor Groups

Pupils arriving to us in Year 7 will be part of a horizontal tutor group. This means they will exclusively remain with their own age group for their first year with us. After this successful and gentle transition into our school community, pupils are entered into a vertical tutor group with a form tutor who looks after their welfare. Form tutors see their students every morning and take particular interest in the day-to-day matters that affect their tutees, including checking that their equipment and uniform is correct. They also register their attendance, deliver a programme of tutor activities and listen to any problems they might have. Tutors have immediate access to information about students’ attendance, achievements and any incidents during the day via the school computer system. As such, tutors should be the first point of contact for parents who have concerns about their child.

Students are members of one of our three houses. This is generally selected at random unless siblings are already a member of a certain house.
