Dear Parent/Carer
Year 7 Settling In Evening 17th October 2019 3.30pm-5 pm.

I am delighted with the way in which the year 7 students have settled into the Academy this year. They have quickly responded to the demands we have placed upon them and with very few exceptions managed to find their way around the site without too many problems!

In order for you to get to know your child’s tutor and see how they have settled in, as well as have the opportunity to get answers to questions from specialist staff and a taste of the
year ahead we have arranged a parents’ evening on Thursday 17th October. I will be giving talks about the year ahead at 3.30pm and 4.30pm, the library will be open with a showcase of different enrichment activities we offer as well as specialists from our SEN and ICT teams. You will also be able to book at 10-minute appointment with your child’s tutor by using the online booking system. The booking system for the Parents Evening is now open and can be accessed via the Clarendon Academy website, under the Parents section. The booking system will close on Monday 14th October.

Homework
Your child has been issued with a journal for the first two terms to them organise their homework and a Show My Homework log in. Both parents and Students can access the homework through this application and feedback so far has shown that this system is very successful. Support will be available on this evening if you have any problems logging in.

Enrichment activities
Many of our Year 7’s have already taken advantage of the many clubs and activities that go on at Clarendon outside lessons. The schedule is on our website and further details will
be available on the evening.

Attendance and punctuality
We are very happy with the start year 7 have made with regard to their attendance and time keeping. We are confident they will maintain this over the coming years with us. We aim for all our students to strive for 97% attendance where possible. We do understand that from time to time they may be ill, but minor ailments such as headaches do not prevent them from attending. “If you are not here you are not learning”
We are looking forward to seeing you at this event.

Yours sincerely
Darren Lawrence
