SURFS UP!

Recently a group of 22 year 11 students and 4 staff took the plunge into the Celtic sea to go surfing for 2 days. After an early start, they headed down to Polzeath, North Cornwall to master the skills that may one day take them to Pipeline. Three and a half hours later the team arrived and were welcomed by a thick sea fog. Tents were set, lunch was eaten and it was time to head to the beach for the first Surf session of the weekend.

As the troop were performing the tricky manoeuvre of wrestling on their wetsuits, the fog burned off, the cloud lifted and the sight of 5-6 ft barrelling waves greeted the eyes of the Surfs Up Surf School and its participants. With not a single breath of wind, the waves were perfectly formed on each sand bar.

Every single student made huge progression and they were standing up and surfing in waves that by all accounts should have been left to more experienced surfers. It was a very impressive display of determination and resilience for everyone involved and each an every student should be very proud of their progression. Some notable surfs came from Evie, Ruby, Rosa and Conrad.
