COVID 19 vaccination for children aged 12 to 15 years of age

Dear Parents and Carers.

As I am sure you will have heard it has been agreed by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) that 1 dose of the COVID vaccination will be offered to all children aged 12-15 years, this will be young people in school Years 8-11, and those in Year 7 who will be 12 years old on or before 22nd September 2021. The COVID vaccination programme has to be delivered in a 6 week window, so all families have an offer before mid November.

To be clear, Clarendon is being used as the venue for this programme, and the COVID vaccinations will be given by trained medical professionals from Virgin Care Immunisation Team, alongside the nasal flu vaccination. We have both vaccinations scheduled to take place on the 4th October 2021.

We are aware of the concerns regarding self-consent, and we would like to reassure parents that their child will not be vaccinated, without a positive consent form being completed by a parent/guardian or carer.

Consent will be gained via the completion of an e-consent form, which will be sent to you 4 days prior to the 4 October. This will be sent to you directly from Virgin Care Immunisation Team.
