The staff of Clarendon Academy are delighted by the results received today by Year 11. Following the cancellation of exams, students were thoroughly assessed internally using a combination of ongoing internal assessment and exams very similar to those taken in a normal year. Coursework was also used in subjects where applicable.

In GCSE subjects we are delighted that 15% of all grades were at 7 (A) or above, nearly half were at a grade 5 or above, and 68% at a grade 4 and above. In vocational subjects a third of all grades were at Level 2 Distinction or Level 2 Distinction *, with 61% being at Level 2 Merit and above.

As a result of these excellent results we are delighted that around 65 of our students will be joining our Sixth Form in September becoming the largest Year 12 in recent years. The majority of other students have achieved the grades they need to go on to further study or begin apprenticeships next year.

Mr Craig Turze, Head of School at Clarendon Academy, was delighted with the efforts of Year 11: “Having returned to school in Easter after the last lockdown, Year 11 should be really proud of their hard work and resilience in achieving these results. At Clarendon they faced a tough and thorough set of assessments just as challenging as in a normal year. In most subjects this meant being examined on the full subject content and preparing for a full set of exams. The determination they’ve shown bodes well for their futures”.
